Appendix B: Editions and Versions
The Public Health AI Handbook is published in two forms: a living edition on this website and dated editions that do not change once archived.
Living edition
This website (publichealthaihandbook.com) is the living edition. It is updated as new evidence, guidance, and corrections arrive, and each change is recorded in the Changelog. Because the text changes, cite the living edition with the date you read it.
Annual frozen editions
Once a year the handbook is frozen as a dated edition. Each frozen edition:
- carries a year label, such as “2027 Edition”;
- is built from one fixed version of the source text and is not edited after it is archived;
- is archived on Zenodo as a PDF with its own version DOI, under the handbook’s concept DOI.
The 2028 Edition is planned for the end of 2027. Print editions published through Amazon KDP use the same edition labels, so a printed “2027 Edition” and the archived 2027 Edition describe the same text.
DOIs
| DOI | What it identifies |
|---|---|
10.5281/zenodo.18263441 |
Concept DOI: all archived versions of the handbook. It resolves to the newest archived version. |
10.5281/zenodo.18263442 |
The initial archived PDF, deposited on Zenodo in January 2026 (no Zenodo version label). It predates the annual edition labels. Existing citations that use this DOI remain valid. |
Each frozen edition will be added to the table below when it is archived.
| Edition | Version DOI | Status |
|---|---|---|
| Initial archived PDF | 10.5281/zenodo.18263442 |
Archived (January 2026) |
Corrections and errata
- The living edition is corrected as soon as an error is confirmed, and the correction is recorded in the Changelog.
- A frozen edition is not edited after it is archived. Errata for each edition are listed on this page.
- An error that could change a public health decision, a retracted or withdrawn source that a recommendation rests on, or a licensing problem leads to a revised edition, archived as a new version under the same concept DOI.
No errata have been recorded.
